Manager, Branch Services
Regina, Saskatchewan

Regina Public Library (RPL)

Posting open until filled. Review of applications begins June 23, 2008

Now, this is exciting! Imagine--

One of the best supported and most used public libraries in the country.
A community-based strategic planning initiative.
A new service plan with a clear focus, measurable objectives, assessment and accountability, to be ready for late 2008.
The integration of all branch services, physical and virtual, into one coordinated delivery system responding to local community needs while maintaining consistently high standards for user experiences, regardless of location.

Join a forward-thinking senior management team dedicated to thoughtful innovation and calculated risk-taking, through results-oriented and evidence-based decision-making. If you place high value on the impact of public libraries on community development, you will find that your change management and public service experience can have enormous impact in Regina.

Working closely with branch heads, you will lead, develop and harness a strong existing commitment to service excellence. New service initiatives will mean new standards for quality, new roles in communities, new alignments and integrations, new staffing allocations and new training opportunities. Your passion and contributions as a professional librarian and manager, coupled with experience in a unionized environment, will provide useful context for this new leadership role.

This is a unique opportunity—work with colleagues to contribute in demonstrable ways to the cultural, economic, educational and social development of the city. With a budget of $15 million and over 200 staff, the Regina Public Library has nine locations. The Library holds as core values learning, access for all, service excellence, accountability and intellectual freedom. Just completing a five year strategic plan and comprehensive review of services and programs, it is poised to address new challenges and new directions.

As the provincial capital, Regina offers art gallery, museum, theatre and symphony programs, extensive recreation opportunities and many special events, as well as a highly rated university, community college and excellent school system. The city’s 190,000 residents enjoy easy access to all amenities and affordable living.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, this position is excluded from the bargaining unit and offers a highly competitive  salary and benefits package. For further information, Library and community profiles and detailed position description, contact:
