Ken Haycock (Senior Partner) has more than 30 years of experience in formal and informal placement of public and private sector professionals and senior library managers. He is a past president the Canadian Library Association and was an elected member of the Executive Board of the 70,000 member American Library Association. Ken has also been a public library trustee with the Guelph (Ontario) and West Vancouver (British Columbia) Library Boards, an elected school board trustee for six years, and chair of the West Vancouver School Board for three years. He was an elected councilor in West Vancouver. Ken holds graduate degrees in Education, Leadership and Library and Information Studies. He is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and is currently completing his MBA degree.

An experienced senior official in a large public sector organization, Dr. Haycock is also professor at the University of British Columbia, teaching and conducting research in management and leadership. The author of more than a hundred articles and books, he has received the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal for contributions to Canadian society. He has also received distinguished service awards from several professional associations including the Canadian and American Library Associations. Ken has been a mentor and trainer for the Northern Exposure to Library Leadership institute since its inception. Pat Cavill (Associate) has more than thirty years experience as a library consultant and library director in rural Saskatchewan and Alberta. Prior to becoming a full-time consultant in 1991, Ms. Cavill was assistant director of the Calgary (Alberta) Public Library. She is a past president of the Saskatchewan, Alberta and Canadian Library Associations. She has been part of the planning team and the chief facilitator of the Northern Exposure to Leadership (NEL) since its inception. NEL is a national institute held every eighteen months for 26 leading librarians with 2-7 years of professional experience; more than 175 of Canada’s leading young professionals and more than 30 library leaders have participated in the program to date.

Pat Cavill’s consulting practice focuses on leadership, marketing, planning, and ethics for all types of libraries and advocacy training across Canada and the United States. Pat led the national team that developed Canada’s Library Advocacy Now! Program and facilitated the national U.S. implementation program for information literacy guidelines and standards. She has received many awards from library associations, including the American Library Association’s Ken Haycock Award for promoting of Librarianship. She is a recipient of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for service to the library community. Pat resides in Calgary, Alberta, where she also serves on a number of boards.

Sheila Tripp (Associate) Sheila Tripp has more than twenty five years experience as a public sector administrator. She currently works on specialized contracts with Human Resources in a large public sector organization with 6,000 employees and as a secondary consultant with Ken Haycock & Associates. Sheila is past president of a large association of School Principals and Vice-Principals as well as past president of an education honour society. She has taught courses at both Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia, and has served on the Senate of Simon Fraser University. She holds a Master’s degree in Education.

Sheila Tripp has conducted organizational cultural audits, developed high performing organizations and undertaken both individual and organizational performance appraisals for local and provincial government agencies. She resides in West Vancouver, British Columbia.

John Horodyski (Associate) is an experienced information management professional. Mr. Horodyski was a Knowledge Coordinator at Xcert International (now RSA), a privately held company that develops and delivers digital certificate-based products for securing e-business transactions is currently a Digital Asset Manager at Electronic Arts Canada. John has worked in libraries and archives in both an academic and community settings, and has taught English in a private college in Lithuania. He holds Masters degrees in both Archival Studies and Library and Information Studies. John Horodyski is a member of the Canadian and American Library Associations, and the Special Libraries Association. He is active in community service with urban relief efforts.

John Horodyski focuses on research, competitive intelligence, customer service and marketing for executive searches across Canada and the United States. John resides in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Muriel Dickson (Associate) has over 25 years of management experience in urban public libraries, most recently as the senior manager responsible for collections and public services. She has been responsible for leadership and operational management and oversight of all aspects of collection management, including accountability in the allocation of a materials budget of over $1.5 million. Muriel’s goal was always to ensure the best possible collection to meet the diverse needs of citizens, to manage the collection using standard industry methods, and to facilitate quality service delivery in a customer-centred atmosphere. She has extensive experience in policy and development and implementation, public services program development and delivery, human resources management, and information retrieval and technology management.

Muriel was a provincial association councillor and worked on many committees aimed at increasing cooperation among libraries and strengthening the historic Saskatchewan “one-province library system” through technological advances and resource -sharing. This experience, combined with her collections and public services expertise, helped qualify her to analyze the services of other regional library systems in acquiring, organizing, allocating and circulating of collections. Muriel resides on an acreage outside Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Gene Burdenuk (Associate) spent over 25 years as a faculty member at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario. As part of his responsibilities he directed a leadership centre whose role was to identify, train and develop leaders for a consortium of public sector groups in Ontario, British Columbia and New Brunswick. He was responsible for establishing the first, and largest, fully accredited educational leadership assessment centre in Canada. He also developed a series of senior management leadership programs for a number of jurisdictions across Canada. His consulting work included management and leadership reviews for public sector organizations.

Gene is a past president of the Canadian School Library Association and was awarded the Margaret B. Scott Award of Merit for outstanding contribution to school libraries in Canada.

Gene Burdenuk focuses on leadership evaluation, assessment and development. He resides in London, Ontario.
